Our founding members established the Club after learning about the Rotorua Kiwi Coffin Club and its founder, Katie Williams, from a friend. They believed it would be beneficial for the Hawke's Bay community as well, so they started the club to help members prepare and personalise their final "bedroom" at a more affordable cost, while also allowing them to decorate their coffins according to their own or their family's wishes. The Club was officially opened by the Mayor of Hastings on October 7, 2014.

Our members work diligently to ensure the smooth running of the club while fostering a positive and happy atmosphere for everyone. We have a diverse range of members—some who have an urgent need for their coffins and others who are simply planning for the future. Some members have purchased their coffins and chosen to stay and volunteer their time to assist others in preparing theirs. We also have members who join simply because they want to help.

Our club takes pride in creating baby coffins, which we donate to grieving parents at several locations, including The Whanganui Midwives Hub, Middlemore Hospital Bereavement Centre, Auckland Baby Loss Centre, Wellington and Hutt Valley Hospital, Kapiti/Horowhenua Hospital, and Hastings Ata Rangi Maternity Hospital.

Decorating your own final bedroom can be a fun and empowering experience. It allows you to tell your own story, and if you wish, you can paint it your favourite colour! There are no rights or wrongs when it comes to decorating; this is about you and what feels right for you, and you're only limited by your own imagination.

Every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., you can find us at our clubrooms, where the atmosphere is lively and full of activity. Our members enjoy a great morning tea, along with a cup of tea or coffee, while catching up with friends.
